Smoked Salmon Creme spread PALEO


Today on this cloudy Sydney Monday,  arrived an intense craving for a smoked salmon creme cheese bagel with a cup of black tea. Trying to avoid gluten & dairy though presents a challenge.

Admittedly a naughty naturopath, or at the best a very very realistic Naturopath. I can relate to cravings of all kinds because I live and breathe enthusiasm for food. Food is fuelling, fun and an experience shared with others. Enjoying the occasional cheat meals, It’s not about deprivation, It’s about having an adventure with alternatives & making better choices in the majority.

Here is the recipe for my from scratch smoked salmon creamy spread. This would not only make a yummy spread but also make a great dip for special occasions. It’s dairy free & completely paleo. Full of nutrition with zero guilt or discomfort.


Makes the equivalent to a deep dip jar.


Smoked Salmon 150g

1/2 bunch of Chives finely chopped

1/2 – 1 teaspoon of dill –> depending on how dilly you’re inclined 😉

2 tablespoons of olive oil

2 cups of pre-soaked cashews

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Garnish with salt and Pepper. (1/3 teaspoon of salt or more if you need)

2 cloves of garlic

1 whole white onion.

Instructions: Blend all ingredients first in a food processor except the salmon & salt/pepper. Add Salmon and blend lightly so there are still chunks and then finally add the salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: With paleo buns (a bagel alternative that is delicious and healthy!) or with seed crackers on a bed of salad greens.  Yum.


Hankering satisfied. Work lunch featured with seeded crackers above… fuelled for the afternoon!
