DITCH THE PLASTIC !! The daily life edition.

Dreaming somewhere between Bondi & Coogee
This post is about your HEALTH. On an environmental AND personal level. When our environment is unhealthy, through the intricately divine design of our interwoven environment, we will experience this. Plastic accumulation is having a devastating effect on our environment. It is also seeping into our bodies through our environment affecting our health directly. Plastic contains a hormone disrupting chemical.
Here is my video with some tips and tricks to minimising plastic in your home. I have added some useful links below the video here with some practical tips to get you started on your journey.
1 – NO MORE PLASTIC BAGS – Take your own reusable bags to the supermarket
You can either buy your own hessian bags or alternative material, or here is a tutorial on how to make your own bag using an old t-shirt courtesy of One Million Women HQ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cin_wLIW9S8
For a tutorial on how to make your own vege & fruit bags visit the One Million Women tutorial . This is amazing. https://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blog/how-make-your-own-re-usable-fruit-and-vegetable-bags/
2 – VISIT YOUR LOCAL MARKETS FOR PRODUCE
Some supermarkets have plastic that wraps around produce. Avoid buying these. Instead, select your produce without plastic. The markets are particularly useful to do grocery shopping and you can buy products in bulk and bring your own glass jars that would otherwise be in a plastic packaging in a supermarket.
To find market stalls for bulk dry goods like nuts and seeds – Look for Honest to Goodness
Your closest markets For more information about your closest local markets in Australia, contact your local council. If you are in Sydney, for your nearest location and day, visit the Organic local food markets at

3 – DITCH THE PLASTIC STRAW
Plastic straws are mostly unnecessary unless you have a medical condition that limits you from opening your mouth. There is a viral video online of a straw being pulled out of a turtles mandible as it becomes lodged there. It’s painful to watch. We don’t need plastic straws. There is no function.

4. Avoid plastic bottles – Purchase a glass or stainless steel bottle and re-use!

I personally really like the Fressko glass flasks because they are thermal. You can have hot tea or cold drinks. Take great care with these ones as they are fragile, but worth it!
5. Bring your own Coffee cups to the Café!
Internet search: “Keep Cups” for various colours and sizes. Also, Ora cafe in Manly sell beautiful hand crafted ceramic reusable coffee cups.

6. DIY Your own beauty products You can make scrubs, deodorants, moisturisers, you can make so much the list is endless..and it’s fun! 😉
Body Scrub recipe example:
1 part sea salt
1 part ground coffee
A grated lemon rind
1 drops of lavender essential oil

We can do this. Life is short & precious, there is no better time for positive change than the present 😉
